Spruce Creek
The fly-fishing around Spruce Creek is so well reknowned that it has drawn former President Jimmy Carter to the Centre Region for many years.  Were he a cyclist, he would no doubt make the trip for this ride as well.  The route takes you to Spruce Creek by way of gently rolling PA 45.  While there may be some traffic along the initial miles of 45, there is good shoulder and what traffic there is should vanish once you cross PA 350.  Once in Spruce Creek, be sure to take a break to enjoy the views of the stream and to rest up for the one significant climb of this ride.  While initially quite steep, the angle quickly backs off and the total elevation gain is less than 600 feet.  Once over the top, the rest of the ride rolls back to State College via beautiful back roads through Halfmoon Valley.
